Since the publication of my book entitled "Fundamentals of Open-channel Hydraulics" in the fall of 2014, I have often been asked what is the difference between our book and Chow's "Open-channel Hydraulics," an undisputed classic in the field, dating back to 1959.

My answer is always clear. There are five differences:

  1. Our book is obviously more up-to-date.

  2. Our book is readily available online and completely free. I promise that you will never have to pay for the book.

  3. Our book is lavishly illustrated and in full color.

  4. Our book is alive, always subject to change with time, as typos and other errors are identified and corrected, yet remaining amenable to improvements as new developments arise.

  5. Our book can be automatically translated into 103 other languages, using Google Translate®, simply by cutting and pasting portions of its content into the translator [Note that the translation may not be 100% accurate].

You can download the book, in whole or in part, and/or print all or parts of it, if you wish. Additionally, you can provide comments to the author, as appropriate. Periodic downloads at regular intervals will ensure that you always are in possession of the most current version. To assist in version identification, every one of the eleven (11) chapters is dated at the bottom right-hand corner.

We hope you enjoy your learning experience!  We'd love to hear from you!
